Movement 67_N forms part of MachineTime_NatureTime, a body of work that brings botanical material into contact with the disruptions and limitations of photographic technology. Fragments of petals, leaves and twigs appear suspended within the picture plane, their movement shaped by environmental conditions and the processes through which the image is produced.
Nishioka deliberately pushes digital processes beyond their conventional limits, allowing fragmentation, distortion and technological disruption to remain visible within the resulting image. The work considers the space between natural and computational processes, bringing together botanical growth, movement, photographic capture and digital systems within a single image.
